Honestly, it was a bit more of a hassle than I'm used to getting this thing together, and I think a lot of that has to come from the most basic of elements to booking a show: the date. I get the fact that its a tour for an international band, and I'm more than happy to help out, take responsibility (and get another Blood Rite out there to boot), and put the work into making it a great show, but a post-holiday Tuesday out in Yokohama far from ideal. Yeah, its together, but it's going to take a lot more work to break even on this than it would on pretty much any other day.
But that's kind of the fun of it, though, isn't it? Sure there are a good number of inefficiencies that can come into play, scheduling is always a good bit puzzling from the start, there's pricing to consider, venues to negotiate with (though, let's be honest, this particular show, or any at El Puente, are far from the most stressful. Its hard not to sing Shige's praise for running such a killer establishment), etc. etc., but when it all comes together that's more than enough reward for the time and effort put into it.
Videos of all bands below.
Retch feels like its kicking into high gear, so hopefully I'll soon be dealing with more than 10 or shows a year. There's all sorts of stuff on the horizon.
Update: Here's the flyer
